How to Read Your Birth Chart: The Full Course

By the end of this page you can read your own birth chart. Not skim a summary of it, read it: find your Big Three, place your planets in their twelve houses, and trace the lines connecting them, in order, with nothing memorized in advance. Reading a chart is a procedure, and a procedure can be taught in a sequence. That sequence exists twice on this site: as one video that runs the whole ladder in a single sitting, and as a set of written lessons, one per rung, that you can come back to whenever a step goes fuzzy.

The ladder, rung by rung

The course is built as a ladder. Each lesson assumes the one before it and sets up the one after, which is why the order matters more than any single piece. Below is every rung, with the written version linked so you can read instead of watch, or read after watching to lock a step in.

Why the order does the work

Notice what the sequence never asks of you. You don’t memorize twelve signs, ten planets, and a table of angles before you’re allowed to touch your own wheel. Each rung hands you one tool and immediately points it at your chart, so the meanings attach to placements you can see rather than lists you recite. That’s also why skipping ahead costs more than it saves. The houses only make sense once the rising sign has set the frame, and aspects only matter once you know which planets they’re connecting. Climb in order and every rung feels short. Climb out of order and every rung feels like memorizing.
