This Week in the Sky (July 26–August 1): Aquarius Full Moon

This week stacks its weight on three days. Saturn stations retrograde late Sunday. Monday the Sun makes two easy angles, a sextile to Uranus and a trine to Neptune. Wednesday the Moon turns full in Aquarius while Venus squares Mars. With Saturn joining Neptune and Pluto, the sky’s slowest planets are all retrograde at once.

Sunday, July 26: Saturn stations retrograde

Saturn’s station is the turnaround moment, and because Saturn moves slowly it colours months rather than days. It happens at 19:56 UT, which is Sunday afternoon in the Americas and the small hours of Monday across Asia and Australia, so you will see both days quoted.

Saturn rules structure: commitments, limits, the long builds in your life. While it runs retrograde, those themes turn inward. The season favours reviewing the obligations you already carry over signing up for new ones, and testing which structures hold weight and which were only habit. Monday, July 27: the Sun opens two doors

The Sun in Leo trines Neptune in Aries at 07:36 UT and sextiles Uranus in Gemini at 21:36 UT. Both are easy geometry, the kind that opens a door without pushing you through it.

Wednesday, July 29: Full Moon in Aquarius, with Venus square Mars

The week’s headline, and two events inside seven hours.

Venus square Mars lands first, at 07:09 UT, with both planets at 21 degrees, Venus in Virgo and Mars in Gemini. Venus is what you value; Mars is what you want and how directly you go after it. The classic theme is desire and standards arguing, in a relationship or in your own work. Friction like this is workable. It mostly asks you to choose consciously instead of on autopilot.

The Full Moon follows at 14:35 UT, at roughly 6 degrees of Aquarius. A Full Moon is the Sun and Moon standing exactly opposite each other, here the Sun in Leo against the Moon in Aquarius. Leo is the personal spotlight, what carries your name; Aquarius is the group, the network, the cause bigger than one person. Full Moons tend to mark culminations, the point where something that has been building becomes visible. The tension worth watching runs between what you want for yourself and what the people around you need from you.
